Kalsec Inc. produces Natural Colors, Natural Flavor Extracts, Antioxidants and Nutritional Ingredients for the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries.
Kalsec recently made a giant leap to move from manual operations to a new fully automated plant tightly integrated with their business system. There are many challenges when building a new production facility. Process technology is important but it is only one piece in the puzzle. It was vital to consider all aspects of the project – networking, data modeling, process technology selection, recipe definition, operator training and support strategy. Matrix Technologies, Inc., a Rockwell Automation Process Solution Provider, delivered a solution incorporating the PlantPAx system with FT Batch in addition to real–time information integration with their iRen business system. The talk described the many considerations Kalsec Inc. went through when they chose Matrix Technologies, Inc. to be their Engineering Procurement & Construction Management (EPC) resource in building the new plant. The talk detailed the entire project and how Kalsec Inc. transitioned its operations from a manual process to a recipe-driven automated one.
