Soy-Protein-Concentrate-Pre-Engineering
Customer: Food Customer
Project Type: Electrical and Controls Upgrade
Project Scope: Matrix Technologies performed a Pre-Engineering study to determine the scope of work and cost necessary to upgrade their two Siemens TI 505 and Rockwell ControlLogix control systems into a single common ControlLogix platform, as well as options for a New Control Room for their project, at the Ohio facility.
Our team performed a code review and documentation of the existing TI controllers, the existing Extraction HMI/SCADA, and the existing Panelmates, with the intention of migrating them into the existing Extraction HMI/SCADA. Matrix also researched and provided two options for each TI controller, for the electrical and hardware replacement.
A Migration Plan with Scope of Work and hardware Bill of Materials was presented to the client. The Pre-Engineering Study included the migration plan to convert the TI Control Systems to ControlLogix, and the hardware specifications required for the project. A proposed network architecture drawing for communications, a proposed system riser diagram for the future system, and the options for the new SPC Control Room were included.
Engineering Challenges: Combining all of the existing PLC systems into a single PLC required careful design and coordination among the project team members and the customer.
Products and Technologies Used: Siemens TI, Rockwell Automation ControlLogix and GE Proficy iFIX
Project Outcome: The project was extremely successful and the customer now has a system that they can easily maintain for the future.
